Chase Nordengren is a doctoral candidate studying educational leadership and policy in K12 schools. His work explores how formal and informal teacher leadership functions in schools, using mixed forms of social network analysis and various theories of instructional and distributed leadership. His dissertation uses network analysis and qualitative analysis to understand how formal and informal leaders in elementary school environments practice advice-giving, information-sharing and motivation to influence instructional change. Future lines of work will continue the theme of using methods to expand perspectives on problems in educational leadership scholarship. Previously, Chase worked on a national evaluation of teacher preparation and in other educational policy analysis positions.
